SAADE Educational Meeting - Elle Presents Self Aftercare

This is part two of a SAADE special series on after care. Some of you may know the presenter as the person who gave our dynamic Jan 2010 discussion on Trigger Play.

"Self After-Care Workshop"-learning to hold yourself when others can't. Playing with intensity is a big part of BDSM. Intensity has the possibility of stirring up emotions and opening up vulnerability. We often negotiate "after care" as part of a scene and set it up for someone else to provide for us. What happens when that is not an option or when the other person gets set off by their own emotional reaction? This workshop will provide techniques to create your own self-after care whether you are a top or a bottom. Regardless of whether you always receive after care from others or not, this workshop will provide tools that will spill over into your every day life and allow you to experience more spaciousness and healing around emotional triggers and reactions. I will offer personal development and spiritual tools, meditative techniques, and exercises to reduce the amount suffering you experience from emotional pain in your lives. You will walk away with a clearer understanding of what after care is and how to hold yourself through anything!

Elle is a spiritual mentor, healer, and teacher. She works with a foundation in Toltec Shamanism and also utilizes other modalities and tools to support empowerment, awakening, awareness, and healing. She has a BA in Psychology with an emphasis in Women's Studies, has worked extensively in the field of mental health, has training in crisis management and mental health, experience working with kids and adolescence in a mental health setting, and is certified as a sex educator through San Francisco Sex Information (http://sfsi.org/). She has been active in leather communities since 2003 and sat on the Boards of the Exiles, SF Citadel, SF Boys of Leather, and PerverCity. She has taught classes for Screw Up, Youth Gender Project, GenderBlast, Lyric, the SF Citadel, Society of Janus, smOdyssey, the Wet Spot, Living in Leather Arizona, OneTasteSF, Bound By Desire, and SAADE. She is also a graduate of the Journeyman Academy. She is the creator, founder, and former organizer of the Queer Playground and San Francisco Kinky Queers, as well as the Queer Leather Nosh. She has been practicing , apprenticing, and teaching for several years in the Toltec tradition through Heather Ash Amara and Raven Smith on her path towards awareness, freedom, and awakening. Her passion and inspiration comes through sacred service in supporting and providing openings for the empowerment and transformation of others through presence and love, as well as the merging of the BDSM and spiritual worlds as a method to create some of those openings with play, fun, love, and joy

Doors open at 7:00 PM. Orientation for newcomers begins at 7:30 PM. Current members are welcome to participate in the orientation and meet interested newcomers. Meeting begins at 8:00 PM.

SAADE meetings are Potluck. Bring a favorite snack to share. SAADE will provide ice, drinks and paper goods.
